A merit scholarship program for students entering grade 9

Our Distinguished Scholars demonstrate outstanding academic achievement by combining a superior GPA throughout a challenging middle school curriculum with highly competitive standardized test scores on the SSAT. The average SSAT score for the Distinguished Scholar Award recipients since the inception of the award is 90th percentile. Saint Andrew’s Distinguished Scholars are creative thinkers and problem solvers. They are honorable, respectful, responsible, and strive to be contributing members of their communities.

Distinguished scholar AWARD Details

Available to students applying to Saint Andrew’s School for Grade 9 and to Saint Andrew’s School rising Grade 9 students.
Award amounts vary, but can be up to and including full tuition.
If the Candidate’s financial need exceeds the amount not covered by the scholarship, “need-based” aid awards may be available.
Distinguished Scholar awards are reviewed and renewed annually over four years; recipients are expected to maintain a positive record of behavior and performance.

Notification

All Distinguished Scholar Award winners will be notified via email in February each year.

Candidates must complete our admission application process (which is outlined below.)

Our online application consisting of the Biographical Information, Parent Statement, Student Questionnaire, and Essay. Candidates may also apply through the SSAT Standard Online Application (SAO).
Candidates must take the SSAT - by December 31, and indicate Saint Andrew’s School as a score recipient. The SSAT can be taken beginning in August. It is not necessary to take more than one test.
Official transcripts for grade 7 and for the first quarter, first semester, or trimester of grade 8 must be sent directly from the candidate’s school to the Saint Andrew’s School Admission Office.
Three recommendations: electronic confidential teacher recommendations (current English teacher, current Math teacher, and Principal/Guidance Counselor) must be sent directly from the applicant's current school to the Admission Office.
Interview: an admission interview is an important part of the application and is required for all applicants. Admission interviews are conducted in person or virtually.

*Important to note:
Current SA Grade 8 students must complete and submit the online form and wait to be contacted by the Admission Office via email BEFORE beginning the application process. You will be provided an application fee waiver code.
The Admission Office will retrieve official transcripts for grade 7 and for the first semester of grade 8.
